Nelson Community Recreation Campus
Community Recreation Campus - The Heart of Nelson, Areas F & Defined E
The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), in partnership with the City of Nelson, are seeking the input from residents in the City of Nelson and Areas E and F, about if the current recreation amenities offered at the Community Recreation Campus still meet community needs. The Community Recreation Campus includes the Nelson & District Community Complex (pool, fitness centre and arena), Civic Centre and Arena, Curling Rink, Indoor Soccer Facility and the empty lot at 824 Front Street.
Phase 2 - Information Seeking
The RDCK will be beginning phase 2 of the Community Recreation Campus engagement process with the launch of the resident survey on November 27 followed shortly by a user group survey. The resident survey is intended to gather the general public's thoughts on the types of activities that should take place at the Community Recreation Campus. The group survey is intended to gather feedback from organized recreation groups to understand their unique needs.
The RDCK and City of Nelson will use the information gathered from the resident and group surveys to help guide their planning efforts for the future of recreation at the Community recreation Campus.
The RDCK and City of Nelson will also be hosting an addition community meeting on November 28 from 6:00-7:30pm. The meeting is intended to provide additional information to the community and is another opportunity for residents to ask questions. We hope you can join us.

Phase One - Attend a Meeting
The RDCK began phase one of a three-phase process by hosting a series of community meetings in Nelson and Areas E & F. Community meeting were held in Taghum, Nelson and 6 Mile. Attendees were asked to share their vison for the future of recreation, through a short feedback form, to help the RDCK and City of Nelson staff to start to understand the communities wants and needs before the main resident and group survey is release in late November.
The intent of the community meetings were to:
- Inform residents about the consultation process
- Educate the public on the current state of all facilities and amenities at the Community Recreation Campus
